Announced in October 2022, the revolutionary Liquid Barcodes C-StorePay product rose to the top of retailers’ 2022 wish lists at the NACS Show, even achieving a “most viewed new product” ranking by Convenience Store News magazine.

C-StorePay accepts ACH payments which instantly reduces retailer card processing fees by more than half, in addition to credit and debit cards. With sky-high credit card processing fees in the convenience industry, processing payment via ACH saves retailers at least 1.5% in fees which can translate to thousands or millions of dollars year over year.

Why Using ACH for Payment is Important

Visa and Mastercard announced an increase in interchange fees in early 2022 and retailers are taking action and sending a message by migrating their customers to new solutions, including mobile app-based ACH payments. And, with that, increasing profits by not only reducing credit card fees but also boosting loyalty via innovative app-based incentive programs.   

For fuel retailers, credit card fees are the second-highest expense for convenience retailers behind labor. While rates vary slightly, the average card processing rate is 2.5%. 

The business case to encourage customers to use ACH as a method of payment is a no-brainer for a retailer. But, convincing people to do so will take some creative marketing and strong incentives. The industry average is to offer three cents off per gallon of gas with every ACH fuel transaction. Most retailers offer a one-time sign-up bonus of 10-15 cents off per gallon. With one mobile app that combines fuel payment and a loyalty program, retailers should incent users by offering games with chances to win even higher discounts, in-store coupons, and other product giveaways. Remember, credit card companies are playing the same game to win customers and offer very attractive cash-back offers to customers so the ACH incentives must be worth it to a customer.

Florida Retailer Sunshine Gasoline Distributers Uses C-StorePay

Sunshine Gasoline upgraded its Max Carwash App to Sunshine Brand featuring a special fuel pay program, powered by C-StorePay. In a highly unique decision, Sunshine has opted to accept only ACH transactions on the app to quickly authenticate bank account information in just five simple steps that take less than a minute to complete and authenticate. 

 

C-StorePay Achieves Verifone Integration Certification

Even more convenient, C-StorePay has achieved certification with global FinTech leader Verifone to integrate with Verifone’s cloud-based point of sale (POS) and site management software solutions for gas stations and convenience stores. Verifone’s vast C-store merchant base can now take advantage of a fully integrated solution for mobile payments with connection to their fuel POS systems, allowing consumers to pay for fuel via app.
