In the ever-evolving landscape of loyalty marketing, our digital age demands programs to go beyond basic principles. 

In our last Lessons in Loyalty article, we explored the 3 C’s of promoting a strong loyalty program: clear, compelling, and consistent communications. Now, we will go one step further with the 3 E’s that exceptional programs employ to seamlessly integrate into customers’ daily lives. 

To propel your program further, focus on the Three E’s:

Easy

Loyalty programs should make everyday life easier through coupons, online ordering, mobile payments, and more. Streamlining routine processes enhances the customer experience, makes the lines move faster, and becomes the epitome of convenience.

According to a report on Retail TouchPoints referencing a 2023 Deloitte survey, “ease, simplicity, and transparency will be the foundation of successful programs. For most consumers, simplicity is the cornerstone of a successful loyalty program.” A program must be easy to join and participate in and simple to earn and redeem rewards.

Empowering

As customers seek more meaningful experiences, programs should empower members to participate in programs on their own terms. Enable them to connect with friends and family by sharing (and receiving) gifts for supporting the program. Mobile payment and online ordering also puts the customer in control of their day. And, perhaps most importantly according to that same Deloitte study above, a program should be transparent in how data is used and saved with just 48% of consumers willing to share personal information in 2023. Trust and empowerment pair well together!
