The Smith Oil Company loyalty program rivals, if not exceeds, the apps of some of its largest regional competitors featuring digital stamps, fuel pay, store locator, friend referral, and more.
In late 2022, Smith Oil Company initially deployed a fuel pay mobile solution, also created by Liquid Barcodes, featuring a special fuel pay program that allows consumers to conveniently pay for fuel using the app. Customers simply drive in, open the app, choose the fuel pump number, link their bank account (once) which activates the pump, and fuel up and go.
Smith Oil Company, headquartered in West Virginia, operates twelve retail locations serving the Ohio Valley in both Ohio and West Virginia.
Digital Loyalty Program
The Smith Oil loyalty app includes digital stamp cards for several popular items and fuel pay, powered by Liquid Barcodes C-Store Pay technology.
When new members join the Smith Oil loyalty program using a simple phone number identifier, they are awarded a welcome reward of a free fountain drink or coffee. Members can earn additional rewards by referring a friend.
Digital stamp cards allow customers to earn a free item after purchasing a certain number of identical items. Customers can collect digital stamps for products such as Monster energy drinks, coffee, cappuccino, fountain drinks, and milk gallons. Smith Oil is working with other popular CPG companies to offer even more items in the digital stamp program.
In addition to digital stamps and mobile fuel pay, the Smith Oil mobile app offers a program sign-up reward, friend referral incentives, a handy store locator tool, and digital receipts. Customers are also prompted with in-store offers in the same transaction, thus saving both time and money and deriving more from their visit to the location.
Revolutionary Fuel Pay Program
Following on the success of another Liquid Barcodes customer, Sunshine Gasoline, Smith Oil accepts only ACH transactions on the fuel pay app using the Liquid Barcodes proprietary program C-StorePay to quickly authenticate bank account information in just five simple steps that take less than a minute to complete and authenticate. Other apps in the convenience and fuel retailing industry require upwards of thirteen steps, collecting many points of personal data, and a 2-day waiting period for bank authorization. Customers save ten cents off per gallon every time they fuel up with the app.

Smith Oil App Fueled by C-StorePay
Launched in October 2022, C-StorePay is an innovative product that makes paying for fuel, in-store merchandise, and subscription programs easy and frictionless for customers while lowering credit card fees for retailers.
C-StorePay accepts ACH payments for fuel pay which instantly reduces retailer card processing fees by more than half, in addition to credit and debit cards. Payments are processed by payment service providers (PSP) and are guaranteed safe, thereby giving customers and retailers peace of mind relying on the PSP’s track record of fraud protection and data authentication.
